Bortz Blood Age Calculator
Bortz Blood Age is an extended biological age based on 22 blood-test markers. The model is built on 306,116 UK Biobank participants and, by C-Index, predicts mortality 11% more accurately than PhenoAge.
How Bortz Blood Age is calculated
Bortz Blood Age is the successor to PhenoAge, trained on a much larger cohort. Using Elastic-Net Cox regression, 25 biomarkers with the greatest predictive power were selected from 60 candidates. Each marker is compared with the UK Biobank mean, weighted by the model coefficient and summed into a biological-age acceleration. If you don't have the extended panel, a baseline estimate is given by the PhenoAge calculator from 9 blood markers, and the place of both models among other approaches is shown by the review of biological-age tests.

22 required markers + 4 optional (UK Biobank). Fields accept a dot or a comma as the decimal separator. Optional parameters can be left empty — the formula substitutes the mean, and their contribution will be zero.
These 4 parameters are produced by automated analyzers (Sysmex XE/XN), the UK Biobank standard. In most labs they are not part of a routine CBC. If you don't have them, leave them empty — the mean will be used in the formula.
