Draft — pending review by US counsel. This document describes what the Service actually does today and is written against US federal and state privacy law. It has not yet been reviewed by a licensed attorney and should be confirmed before it is relied upon in a dispute.
This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) explains what information Smart Longevity (the smartlongevity.us website and all of its sections, the “Service”) collects, how it is used, how long it is kept, and what choices you have. Smart Longevity is operated by the operator of the Service (“we”, “us”).
The short version. We do not sell your information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not run advertising or analytics trackers from third parties on this site. Calculator inputs and calculator results are never stored — the calculation runs and is not recorded. You can delete your account, and everything attached to it, yourself from your profile.
1. What we collect
1.1. Account data. Email address, display name or pseudonym, gender (optional, may be left as “private”), @handle, city, and a password stored only as a salted cryptographic hash. We do not ask for your legal name or any identity document.
1.2. Profile data you choose to provide. Short bio, interests, goals, areas of expertise, languages, what you are looking for in the community, and an optional social link. All of it is optional, and all of it is visible only according to the visibility setting you pick in your profile.
1.3. Usage data. Which pages you opened and for how long, which tools you ran (the name of the tool, not what you typed into it), reactions, bookmarks, and support requests. For signed-in users this is stored against your account; for visitors who are not signed in it is not stored at all.
1.4. Technical data. IP address, browser and device type, and cookies necessary for the site to function (including your sign-in session and your cookie choice).
1.5. Payment data. If you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive a subscription identifier, the plan, and its status. We never receive or store your card number.
2. What we do not collect
2.1. We do not store what you enter into calculators, and we do not store the results. The values you type — weight, blood pressure, laboratory markers and so on — are used to compute the answer and are then gone. They are not written to our database, not logged, and not sent anywhere else. PDF reports are generated inside your own browser and are never uploaded to us.
2.2. What we do record about a calculation is that it happened: your account, the name of the tool, and the time. That exists to enforce plan limits, and it contains no health values.
2.3. We do not collect precise geolocation, contacts, photographs, or biometric identifiers.
3. Why we use it
3.1. To operate the Service: create and secure your account, keep you signed in, apply the limits of your plan, and provide support.
3.2. To send you service email: address confirmation, password reset, and confirmation of a purchase. These are part of the service itself and are sent regardless of marketing preferences.
3.3. To send you optional email (currently only a welcome message). You can unsubscribe from it at any time from the link in the message.
3.4. To understand, in aggregate, which material is read and which tools are used, so that we can improve them.
3.5. To detect abuse, prevent fraud, and comply with the law.
4. We do not sell or share your information
4.1. We do not sell personal information, and we have not sold any in the preceding twelve months. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
4.2. We disclose information only to service providers who process it on our behalf and only for the purposes above: our hosting provider, our email delivery provider, and Stripe for payments. They may not use it for their own purposes.
4.3. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users and of the Service.
4.4. If the Service is ever sold or merged, information may transfer with it. We will say so on this page before that happens.
5. Cookies and tracking
5.1. We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work — your sign-in session and the record of your cookie choice. There are no third-party advertising or analytics trackers on this site.
5.2. Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request: optional analytics are disabled and the cookie banner is not shown. You do not have to do anything else.
6. How long we keep it
6.1. Account and profile data: until you delete your account. Deletion is immediate and removes the account together with sessions, bookmarks, reactions, usage records and tool-run records.
6.2. Email delivery records (recipient, type of message, outcome, time) are kept for a rolling window for troubleshooting; message bodies are not kept.
6.3. Records we are required to keep for tax or accounting purposes are kept for the period the law requires, even after account deletion.
7. Your rights
7.1. Wherever you live, you can: see and correct your profile data in your profile; delete your account and its data yourself from your profile; unsubscribe from optional email; and write to us at info@smartlongevity.us with any request about your information.
7.2. If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia, Oregon, Montana or another state with a consumer privacy law, you additionally have the right to know what we hold about you and to receive a copy, the right to correct it, the right to delete it, the right to opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising and profiling (we do none of these), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
7.3. How to make a request. Email info@smartlongevity.us from the address on your account, or use the delete button in your profile. We answer within 45 days and will tell you if we need the one extension the law allows. We verify a request by confirming control of the account email; we do not ask for identity documents. An authorized agent may act for you with your written permission.
7.4. Appeals. If we refuse a request, you may appeal by replying to our answer. We will respond to the appeal within 45 days, and if we still refuse we will tell you how to complain to your state Attorney General.
7.5. Health-related information has its own policy: see our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
8. Security
8.1. The site is served over TLS. Passwords are stored only as salted PBKDF2 hashes and cannot be read by us. Access to production data is limited to the operator.
8.2. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by state breach-notification law and by the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule.
9. Children
The Service is for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, write to info@smartlongevity.us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy. The date at the top always shows the current version. If a change materially reduces your privacy, we will say so on the site before it takes effect, rather than expecting you to notice.
