Estimated biological age from your body — no lab tests

Estimated biological age is a quick read on your body's age from just four measurements: height, weight, waist circumference and hips. The method relies on the aging rate coefficient: the ratio of fat to lean body mass changes with age in a predictable way — and from it you can gauge whether your body is running ahead of your chronological age or behind it.

Method

How the estimated biological age is calculated

The method of A. G. Gorelkin and B. B. Pinkhasov estimates biological age from body composition. With the years, the share of visceral fat grows while lean mass declines — which shows up in circumferences and body mass index. From these it computes the pace of aging and compares it with the age norm. This is a quick estimate without lab tests — the pace of aging is shown more precisely by biological age from blood tests (PhenoAge), and to compare different approaches, see the overview of what biological age tests exist.

The method's reference point is the age of peak physical fitness: for women it is reached at 18, for men at 21. It's from this age that the “difference in years” up to your calendar age is counted — and that shows how far the body has drifted from its best form.

The estimated biological age is an approximate assessment of body composition, not a clinical diagnosis. The method is sensitive to measurement technique and doesn't account for individual build (for example, high muscle mass in athletes).
